Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Maryland Environmental Service (MES) operates six (6) wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) in Anne Arundel, Charles, Prince Georges, and St. Mary’s Counties, Maryland. These facilities routinely haul liquid sludge to various wastewater treatment plants in the region. The Contractor shall be responsible for the cleanup of all sludge spills and other unauthorized discharges that occur while removing liquid sludge, during transit, or when loading and off-loading operations at the source or receiving WWTPs. The Contractor shall have vacuum/pumping equipment available on their tanker trucks that will be able to pump to and from a 15-foot-high tank using 3 or 4-inch hoses. The contractor should be equipped to use both size hoses when necessary since the size varies between facilities. Should a spill occur during transit on Maryland public roadways, the Contractor must adhere to the following protocol.
