Specifications include, but are not limited to:The Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Aviation MDOT MAA (MDOT MAA) is issuing this Invitation for Bid (IFB) for all the necessary labor, equipment, and tools, to provide Laundry Service. A. The Contractor shall provide laundry and dry-cleaning services at the frequency requested by the Administration. B. Collection, transport, and delivery of items to be laundered or dry cleaned shall be provided by the Contractor. Unless otherwise requested by the Contract Administrator, pick-ups and deliveries shall be made to the following locations: 1. Grounds Maintenance, Building #115 – Sleeping Quarters (Elm Road) 2. MAC Building – Facilities Maintenance (7005 Aviation Boulevard) The pick-up and delivery locations may change at the discretion of the Administration. C. The Contractor shall provide laundry services for items such as blankets, sheets and pillow cases and remove soiled laundry on an as needed basis. These items need wash and fold service only, with no ironing service included. The returned clean laundry shall be wrapped in paper or plastic. Clean blankets shall be delivered in bundles of two. Sheets and pillow cases shall be delivered in bundles of five. D. The MDOT MAA is planning to utilize the following size, material, and description of bedding. However, the characteristics of the items needed to be laundered (size, material, etc.) may change at the Administration’s discretion. 1. Blanket – 100% cotton, size 90”L x 66”W 2. Sheets – 50/50 Polyester/Cotton Blend, size 66” L x 104” W 3. Pillow cases – 65/35 Polyester/Cotton Blend, size 30” L x 20” W E. The Contractor shall provide dry cleaning services for items such as table cloth, curtains, etc. on an as needed basis. These items need washing, ironing, and folding service. The returned clean items shall be wrapped in paper or plastic. F. Deliveries shall be made Monday through Friday between the hours of 9:00AM – 3:00PM. Deliveries shall not be made during the weekends and during State Holidays or Service Reduction Days. A complete list of these days will be made available to the Contractor through the Contract Administrator. G. Contractor shall identify and report torn linen within 24 hours of collection and return the damaged items within 72 hours of the discovery. H. The MDOT MAA shall provide a scale for measuring the weight of laundry and dry cleaning at the time of pick-up and delivery. I. The Contractor’s employees shall be in uniform or other identifying standardized clothing, presenting a neat and professional appearance at all times when on duty. All uniforms are to be furnished by and paid for by the Contractor. J. The Contractor and its personnel shall be responsible for utilizing safe chemicals and shall be knowledgeable of and adhere to all Federal, State, and local laws, industry standards and practices.
