Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1. Install tracer wire (#12 AWG solid copper wire) in continuous, grounded Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) fiber utility runs only. Pull or blow/jet cable through existing conduits using existing access points, (including but not limited to manholes and junction boxes) along the MD 200 (ICC) corridor as shown in the plans. Contractor shall install tracer wire in conduit runs between cabinets and manholes, handholes, etc. 2. Remove and replace traffic barrier as needed to access communication facilities. 3. Proper setup and breakdown of work zones and associated temporary traffic controls. 4. Prior to installing pull cord, the contractor shall evaluate the existing conduits and associated equipment access points shall be evaluated for overall conditions and for the presence of an existing pull cord. Use of existing pull cord is permitted. Existing pull cord must be replaced if used. 5. If an existing pull cord is absent, the contractor shall blow/jet a pull cord in conduit prior to pulling the tracer wire. All conduits affected shall have a pull cord present at the conclusion of the project 6. Test existing ground rods within manholes and junction boxes for compliance with applicable MDOT standards and replace if necessary. Proposed tracer wire shall be grounded to existing or proposed as necessary. Install ¾”x10’ copper ground rods as required in any manholes if ground rod is not present. All tracer wires shall be exothermic welded to the ground rods.
