Specifications include, but are not limited to: Specific project goals of the A/B Connector and BHS Replacement Project include: 1. Provide a new in-line baggage screening and handling system with approximately eight EDS machines meeting the latest TSA design requirements to replace the existing baggage screening system. The existing BHS must maintain the existing bag screening capacity throughout construction. 2. Provide modifications to the existing baggage handling system and ticket counter area to expand the overall capacity to allow the tenant airline to consolidate operations in the A/B portion of the Terminal. 3. Relocate five holdrooms to the expanded portion the building and create a direct connection for passenger flow between Concourses A and B. 4. Create new concession opportunities along the new connection as an expansion of the existing concession hall located on the ticketing level between the existing A and B passenger security checkpoints. 5. Add multiple new restroom facilities to improve the level of service to the passengers. 6. Repurpose the existing baggage screening area to improve concession storage opportunities and add freight elevators to simplify materials delivery and trash disposal from the expanded concession area. 7. Update mechanical, electrical, plumbing, information technology, security, and fire protection systems to address the expansion of the terminal as well as aging infrastructure. 8. Minimize the impacts of construction activity on on-going airport operations throughout implementation of the program. The Terminal A/B complex serves over half of the BWI Marshall Airport’s passengers and maintaining operations throughout construction will be a major project requirement. To minimize the overall impacts on Airport operations, it is anticipated that a fast-track construction delivery method will be utilized.
