Specifications include, but are not limited to: The work associated with MAA-CO-18-003 consists of professional construction management services for the pre-construction and construction phases of the A/B Connector and Baggage Handling System. The project involves the construction of an approximately 128,000 square foot addition to Terminal A/B and the renovation of approximately 37,000 square feet within existing Terminal A-B. The addition will consist of two (2) primary levels – Apron Level and Departures Level. The Apron Level will consist of approximately 82,000 sf of new building and 25,000 sf of renovation. The addition will house the new Checked Baggage Inspection System (CBIS) and Checked Baggage Reconciliation Area (CBRA); new outbound baggage make-up facility including transfer input lines, a baggage screening reintroduction belt for international transfer baggage, and a manual encoding station for mis-sorted bags; and Southwest’s relocated ramp operations area. The proposed project will create a consolidated BHS with a capacity in excess of 3,500 bags per hour allowing SWA to consolidate their domestic and international operations. Baggage screening capability on the existing system must be maintained throughout construction of the new system. Once the new BHS is completely installed and operational, the existing screening area will be modified to house additional concessions for the existing bag claim area and to create concession storage to serve the additional concession space created on the departures level. Mechanical, electrical, communication, fire alarm, and other systems will be extended/expanded to meet the additional demand.
