Specifications include, but are not limited to: 2.3.1 The Contractor shall provide LPNs, RNs, CNAs, and GNAs (collectively referred to as “nurses”) upon request by the Center. (See Section 2.3.9 for request procedures.) All LPNs, RNs, CNAs, and GNAs (nurses) shall be licensed by the Maryland State Board of Nursing and as otherwise provided by law. Each assigned nursing staff person must have a minimum of one (1) year of clinical nursing experience. The Contractor shall have a process for providing nurses with necessary training or for determining when previous training is equivalent in content and length with the Contractor’s requirements and obligations under the Contract, as well as with applicable law and regulations. This process shall also include the nurse’s demonstration of proficiency of subjects taught. 2.3.2 Prior to a nursing staff member working at the Center, the Contractor shall ensure and document that each nurse staff member of the Contractor assigned to work at the Center has passed a medical examination including the following: (a) This examination shall be completed by a physician and shall include, at a minimum, the following: • A tuberculosis test of a type acceptable for licensure standard or other applicable regulations (no more than six months old); • Employee’s past history of communicable disease; • Proof that employee is drug free; and • Employee’s statement of general health (b) Each Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Registered Nurse (RN), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), and/or Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) or Nurse shall be certified free of tuberculosis before being assigned to work at the Center, be screened annually thereafter and remain tuberculosis free for the full duration of the Contract. (c) The Contractor shall offer the Hepatitis B vaccination to its nursing staff members who will be working at the Center in accordance with OSHA Blood Borne Pathogen guidelines. Documentation of refusal must be provided to the Contract Monitor within 48 hours when an employee refuses testing and vaccination. (d) The Contractor shall comply with all other employee health testing requirements as they are initiated during the term of the Contract. (e) The expense of medical examinations and testing shall be borne by the Contractor. (f) Documentation of the requirements set forth in Section paragraphs (a) through (d) above shall be provided immediately upon request by the Contract Monitor.
