Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1. To remove snow and treat with salt all public streets, lanes, alleyways and designated parking lots owned and maintained by the Town of Smithsburg using listed or equivalent equipment. Salt is to be provided by the Town unless otherwise directed. Any misuse of salt or abuse will result in termination of this contract. 2. Salt will be maintained and stored in the towns salt storage area beside the Public Works Facility in Veterans Park. If not available, an alternative source will be used per instructions of the Public Works Supervisor or Town Manager. 3. The Contractor is responsible to ensure that all vehicles are equipped with a clearly visible flashing amber lights for safety. 4. The Contractor is responsible to ensure that all vehicles are properly licensed, registered and insured. 5. Contractor is responsible for paying all sub-contractors. 6. Contractor is responsible for ensuring that all sub-contractors have appropriate insurance. 7. Contractor shall furnish to the Town names of any subcontractors with bid package. 8. Contactor shall furnish to the Town at least two references from people/companies for which they have done snow removal. (ATTACHMENT B) 9. Snow removal normally commences when the snow has reached two (2) inches, depending on the conditions and the forecast, i.e. type of snow, wet vs. dry/ possible icing. The Public Works Crew Leader and/or the Town Manager will provide all direction. 10. Salting for icy conditions should begin immediately with hilly areas and intersections being treated as priority. 11. Time starts when snow response commences.
