Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1. CHASSIS, (SUSPENSION AND FRAME), TANDEM AXLE. 1.1 Front axle 20,000 lb. minimum capacity with minimum of eight (8) inches ground clearance at lowest point. 1.2 Rear axle, 46000 lb. capacity, single speed, with controlled traction differential (C.T.D) that is manipulated from the cab as needed. Vehicle shall be geared so as to provide maximum road speed of 68-70 mph. 1.3 Hendrickson “Haulmaax” (or approved equal) air-ride suspension at rear axles. 1.4 Front springs shall be tapered leaf. 1.5 Heavy-duty suspension capacity must be sufficient to carry loaded vehicle on and off road safely. 1.6 Frame section 120,000 PSI high tensile steel with 3,200,000 single frame rail RBM minimum. 1.7 Cab-to-axle dimension to be suitable to accommodate specified body. 1.8 Extend frame approximately 3-4” past dump body pivot shaft. 1.9 Bidders shall submit a weight distribution analysis of the truck fully equipped and fully loaded. 2. ENGINE. 2.1 Diesel, Cummins X12, with Engine Brake, 500 HP. 2.2 Electric governor. 2.3 Keyed ignition/shut down; three sets of keys to be provided. 2.4 Heated water/fuel separator. 2.5 Fuel system primer pump. 2.6 Heavy duty radiator with Gates Blue Stripe hoses throughout cooling system (including heater) with stainless steel clamps. 2.7 Coolant protection permanent antifreeze to minus 35 degrees Fahrenheit. 2.8 1500-watt, 120-volt block heater, with recessed plug located under left hand driver’s door. 2.9 Single vertical exhaust stainless steel tailpipe system with heat shield mounted on passenger side with 90 elbow at top, horizontal mounted emission system under right step. 2.10 Intake air restriction monitor, dash mounted/gauge only. 2.11 Kysor engine protection system, or equal, audible alarm and light for engine low oil pressure, high coolant temperature and low radiator coolant level. 2.12 Electronic locking throttle. 2.13 Hour meter. 2.14 Stainless steel oil pan. 3. TRANSMISSION. 3.1 Allison automatic, Model 4500 RDS with push-button control and aggressive down-shift program. 3.2 Heavy duty auxiliary transmission oil cooler (no metal transmission lines use hydro type lines). 3.3 Manufacturer recommended synthetic automatic transmission fluid 3.4 Transmission control module (TCM) to be located inside cab. 4. ELECTRICAL. 4.1 Heavy duty 12-volt battery system with minimum combined CCA rating of 1950. Battery box to be frame mounted, curb side. Jump stud to be remote mounted. 4.2 One hundred sixty (160) amp alternator. 4.3 Install and wire according to code electrical connection at rear of truck -- Cole-Hersee socket 1235 six-hole – to provide electrical connections to towed vehicles 4.4 Install and wire to code electrical connection at rear of truck – ColeHersee socket 12063 seven-hole – to provide electrical connections to towed vehicles with ABS brakes. 4.5 Any outside mounted electronic control unit (ECU) and connectors must be shrink wrapped for protection against salt damage. 5. BRAKES. 5.1 Full air and must meet federal air brake laws (FMVSS 121). 5.2 Front and rear drum brakes, Meritor Q plus, “S” cam with automatic slack adjusters. NO SUBSTITUTES. 5.3 Heated air dryer with splitter valve, Bendix AD-9 or approved equal. 5.4 Air Compressor, minimum 13 cubic feet. 5.5 Must contain protection filter against radio interference, as needed. 5.6 Mount rear brake chambers forward of rear axle. Brake chambers to be 30-30 (no substitute). 5.7 Spring set parking brake on both rear axles with dash mounted control. 5.8 Air brake connections for four wheel trailer glad hands at rear of truck. Glad hands to be mounted on the outside of each frame end just to the rear of the rear Springer hangers, as high as possible. They are not to be mounted in the pintle hook plate.
