Inquiries and Responses:
1. Is there a required step distance between profiles for the topography evaluations?
Response: For the spacing between profiles on the Type 1. Line height, width, or spacing standard, our focus is around 1mm, 5mm, or 10 mm for both line width and spacing. One order of magnitude difference between the listed values and those of the standards is acceptable, greater than that becomes a judgement call when justifying traceability (e.g., calibrating with a 5 micrometer standard when measuring 10 mm features is hard to justify). The takeaway: a reasonable leeway will be given when considering the requirement as met.
Q2. Is it possible to specify the sa/sq tolerances?
Response: For the Type 2. Roughness calibration standard, it will be accepted that the certificates list sa (arithmetic mean height) and/or sq (squared mean height) tolerances, for as long as the values are traceable to a National Metrology Institute.”
All other terms and conditions remain unchanged, as a resilt of this post.
