Specifications include, but are not limited to: A. The Successful Vendor shall provide in-park security services for the Salisbury Zoological Park seven (7) days per week, three hundred sixty five (365) days per year (no holiday exclusions). Services to be provided between the hours of 8:00 P.M. and 4:00 A.M. B. Patrol zoo grounds on a random schedule and pattern. Perform a minimum of four (4) patrols per shift. 1. Visually check grounds and all structures. 2. Verify the security of all non-animal structure doors/windows. 3. Verify integrity of all perimeter gates. 4. Observe facility exterior/security lighting, including street lighting on adjacent streets and parking lots and report any problems to Zoo Management. 5. Where possible identify and report to Zoo Management any disruptions to electrical service to the Zoo. 6. Observe and report to Zoo Management on any significant weather related circumstance such as rising river levels, flooding rains, or damaging winds. 7. Unless specifically directed otherwise, avoid entry into any animal enclosure areas and avoid contact or interactions with zoo animals. C. On a random pattern and as directed by Zoo Management enter and verify interior security of specified buildings. 1. Disarm and re-alarm any applicable security systems. D. At or around dusk, consistent with City of Salisbury Park regulations, close and secure the “Ben’s Red Swings” play area on the west side of the Zoo. 1. Ensure any timer run systems such as the misters are off per schedule. 2. Close and secure the restroom facility structure. E. At the close of the shift open “Ben’s Red Swings” play area. 1. Open the restroom facility. F. Keep a daily “incident” log to document activities and record any relevant information. 1. Note any personnel in, or accessing, the Park after start of shift. G. Carry a City issued cell phone to initiate and receive communications with Zoo staff, alarm monitoring services, and police and emergency services. 1. Receive any calls from alarm services to investigate/validate building alarms. 2. Reset alarms as instructed. 3. Call specified Zoo staff where alarm issues cannot be resolved, or where emergency circumstances exist. 4. Place 911/emergency calls as needed or instructed. H. In emergency circumstances stand by to assist responding personnel and open any areas to which emergency responders may need access. I. Interact with Salisbury Police Department personnel as needed or requested. 1. Observe activities around the Zoo area and document/report suspicious activity. J. Notify Zoo Management immediately with any breaches of security, or if an unsafe or inappropriate condition(s) are observed. Guards must also notify 911 in the event of a breach of security, and for safety purposes, should assume that all intruders may be carrying a weapon and should not challenge or confront the intruder, but rather immediately notify 911, notify Zoo Management, and notify the Salisbury Police Department at 410-548-3165.
