Specifications include, but are not limited to: A. Sodium Chloride (Rock Salt) 1. Rock Salt per ASTM D632-99 (as most currently revised). Type 1, Grade 1, ASSHTO M143 must contain minimum of 95% by weight of Sodium Chloride with anti-caking agent to prevent caking of salt at outside or covered storage and shall arrive at City’s delivery point in a free-flowing and usable condition. ASTM E534-08 will be used for chemical testing of the samples. 2. Gradation: The gradation of Type 1 sodium chloride, when tested by means of laboratory sieves, shall conform to the following requirements for particle size distribution: Sieve Size Grade 1 Mass % Passing 12.5mm (1/2”) 100 9.5 mm (3/8”) 95-100 4.75 mm (No. 4) 20-90 2.36 mm (No. 8) 10-60 6.00 mm (No. 30) 0-15
