Specifications include, but are not limited to: This Request for Proposals (“RFP” or “solicitation”) is soliciting Proposals from qualified Universities, with credentialed nursing programs, to provide University Partner Supported Health Suites. Prevention of disease, health promotion, and health education are the cornerstones of school health services. School health suites are the health hub of the school community. School Health Nurses (“SHNs”) lend their expertise to the assessment, diagnosis, preventative care, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the health needs of the school community. According to the Maryland State Department of Education, SHNs fulfill critical roles in bridging the gap between health, wellness, and learning as a member of a multidisciplinary team, along with counselors, social workers, and other school staff. City Schools greatly appreciates its long-standing relationships with area universities in supporting student health and well-being. • Be available 30 minutes before the first school bell and 30 minutes after the last school bell. If a school has Saturday school or programming in the afternoon outside of the normal school day, there may be the opportunity for staff to work additional time, which will be compensated by City Schools on a fee for services basis. Additional work opportunities for SHNs provided by university partners will be available during City Schools’ summer educational programming. • Assist the school principal or designee in the development of the school’s Emergency Medical Plan. • Provide emergency care services, such as CPR and First Aid, as needed. • Perform skilled nursing tasks, including but not limited to: o Care of the Diabetic Student: blood glucose monitoring, carbohydrate counting, insulin administration; o Clean, intermittent urinary catheterization; o Enteral feedings; o Care of the student with a tracheostomy; and o Other care needs as described by the student’s Individual Health Care Plan (IHCP). • Prepare clear, complete, concise, and accurate documentation of care on approved forms according to City Schools’ policies and procedures. • Develop positive relationships with school leaders and sch
