MCPS is seeking proposals from qualified vendors to provide next-generation firewall solutions to replace our legacy firewalls (FortiGate 7060E and 500E Series) and remote access solutions (FortiClient EMS). These systems have become outdated and lack the performance, scalability, and capability needed to fully support modern instructional delivery. Additionally, MCPS has begun adopting more cloud-based platforms, which require flexible connectivity options, content filtering, and reliable high-availability services. The school system is exploring the potential of cloud delivered firewall/access control services to offload student and staff internet traffic while maintaining compliance with the Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA) and ensuring strong performance for online learning applications. The goal is to modernize perimeter and internal network protections, align with current cybersecurity best practices, address critical gaps identified in both internal audits and Office of Legislative Audits (OLA) recommendations, and adhere to the requirements of the Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA).
