Specifications include, but are not limited to: 2.1.1 The Maryland Department of Commerce/Office of Tourism (OTD) is issuing this Request for Proposals (RFP) seeking the production of printed media for travel information content about the state. Commerce has the responsibility of attracting and retaining businesses and increasing the workforce in the State of Maryland. To accomplish these objectives, Commerce strives to present the State both as a place to work and also as a place to enjoy a high quality of life. The State is marketed both domestically and internationally. 2.1.2 The Maryland Office of Tourism serves as the State’s official travel marketing agency. The office promotes Maryland’s attractions, accommodations and services to increase visitor spending in the State. This is done through providing residents and out-of-state visitors with information and services to ensure a positive trip experience and positioning Maryland as a competitive destination. 2.1.3 Maryland’s tourism industry is a powerful economic engine and job creator. Tourism is a major generator of jobs, directly employing some 115,000 Marylanders. It is the purpose of this RFP to determine the best firm(s) for the production of travel information content, through printed media, so to derive revenue benefits for the State of Maryland through visitor spending.
