The PEN Project Coordinator of special education services for unserved and underserved Orthodox Jewish students shall be able to work up to 550 hours between the hours of 8:00 am – 5:00 pm and possible evening hours on an as needed basis and when meetings are necessary to perform the duties of the position. The coordinator support will be responsible for the following: 1. Act as a liaison between the MSDE, EI&SE, with the Center for Jewish Education, to develop working relationships with Baltimore City Public Schools and Baltimore County Public Schools to ensure that students eligible for special education and related services have an appropriate service plan or Individualized Education Program (IEP) developed and implemented. 2. Develop and provide technical assistance to Baltimore County and Baltimore City Public Schools to ensure Child Find activities are conducted in a culturally sensitive manner. 3. Prepare documents in Microsoft Office, including special reports as requested by senior staff. Develop and maintain a parent/child database in Microsoft Access. 4. Assist EI&SE in supporting the needs of children and students in public schools, private schools, and Jewish Day schools as appropriate; maintain and continually update the database; and establish a mechanism for confidential communication with families. 5. Respond to parent calls and written inquiries in support of this initiative as directed by the Program Manager.
