Specifications include, but are not limited to: The purpose of this position is to address issues related to the identification of unserved and underserved children with disabilities in the Baltimore Orthodox Jewish community who are in need of educational services that address their disabilities. Nature of Work: The Coordinator of special education services for underserved/unserved orthodox Jewish students will be responsible for the following: ♦ Acting as a liaison between MSDE, DSE/EIS, CJE, developing working relationships with Baltimore City Public Schools (BCPSS) and Baltimore County Public Schools (BCPS) to ensure that students eligible for special education and related services have an appropriate service plan or IEP developed and implemented ♦ Developing and assisting with technical assistance to BCPSS and BCPS to ensure Child Find activities are conducted in a culturally sensitive manner and ♦ Assisting DSE/EIS in supporting the needs of these children in public schools, private schools and Jewish Day schools as appropriate to maintain and continually update the database and establish a mechanism for confidential communication with families. ♦ Assuming responsibility for responding to parent calls and written inquiries in support of this initiative
