Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Maryland Department of Veterans Affairs, (MDVA) was created by the State Legislature in 1999 as an executive agency with the mission of assisting veterans, active-duty service members, their families, and dependents, in securing benefits (including continuum of care through long term care) earned through military service. Through a growing number of veteran-focused programs, including state veterans homes, services/benefits, cemeteries and memorials, veterans trust, and outreach and advocacy, MDVA seeks to connect with Maryland’s veterans to ensure they receive the benefits and services they have earned through their service. Currently, MDVA provides a continuum of care to Maryland veterans at Charlotte Hall Veterans Home (CHVH) through a state contract with a “for profit” Management Contractor. CHVH has operated as the State’s only Veterans Home since 1985. MDVA is currently working on the development of a second State Veterans Home to be located in Sykesville, Maryland. See below for additional information regarding the SVH program as of the date of this Solicitation.
