As noted in Part II of the Education Center and Artisan Center Renovation and Upgrade, the project will include a full renovation of the existing Visitor Center Complex which includes Buildings 1-3, and a Silo having a GSF of 12,130 and NSF of 9,345. The artisan center has an existing storage of 2,880 and an NSF of 2,756. The project proposes an addition of 1,152 GSF and 864 NSF to the adjacent storage facility/future artisan center. This project will involve the reconfiguration of the building’s infrastructure so that the new Education Center will provide interactive learning environments for children and adults, as well as office space for 6-7 staff, and storage for the Department of Education. The EC should contain four ground-floor bathrooms (adding two to the existing two bathrooms), a lactation room, six staff offices, one department director office, a staff conference room, a kitchen/break room, a multi-function classroom space, a children’s activity room, a media production room, and storage room(s) and ADA access to the 2nd floor, such as a lift or 3-stop elevator.
