1. The asphalt track must be built to withstand severe winds, rain and snow, temperature fluctuations, freeze thaw cycles, ground frost heave, standing water and must be easily repairable. Generous drainage considerations may be necessary. 2. Must prioritize worker / contractor and overall site safety. Ensure public safety and limit access to public use during construction until completion using a variety of resources such as fencing. Must follow all reasonable working hours / noise levels and other community related courtesies. 3. Material Clearance - The contractor shall submit their intended sources of supply for materials to MDOT SHA’s Office of Materials and Technology (OMT) for evaluation. OMT will review the submissions and determine if the producer (and sometimes specific product) is appropriate for the intended usage. If the source of the supply is acceptable, OMT will report to the Contractor the specific Quality Assurance requirements that will need to be followed to clear the project. For Federally funded projects advertised after November 10, 2022, certificates of compliance with the Build America, Buy America Act will be required from product manufacturers or producers for all iron, steel, and construction materials.
