Specifications include, but are not limited to: select a qualified Architectural and Engineering (A/E) team with specific experience in the design and construction administration of public parks to design a new park for the City of Gaithersburg that incorporates open space for recreation and small community gatherings and maximize the usable space using careful thought and balance while incorporating community input received from June 2021 survey in the park design (Ref. Exhibit C). The 2.99-acre Crown Farm Park site (hereinafter referred to as “Project”) is located at 415 Decoverly Drive, Gaithersburg, Maryland 20878 in the Crown Farm neighborhood. A. Ideas and possibilities for the project shall include at a minimum: i. Open green space ii. Walking paths iii. Park benches iv. Farm-themed playground equipment (target age 2 – 12 years old) v. Poured in-place playground surface vi. Multipurpose agility area (not fenced in) vii. Fitness equipment along walking paths viii. Landscape plantings with historical ties to the property and City B. Exclusions: Project designs shall not include: i. Traditional defined sports fields and/or courts ii. Park lighting features iii. Community gardens iv. Dog park (designated fenced-in area) v. Natural-themed park concept using natural materials vi. Additional onsite parking C. The overall work effort will be a collaboration between City staff and the consultant. The selected A/E shall meet with City Planning Division Staff, Engineering Division Staff, Storm Water Management Staff, and Code Enforcement Staff to understand the City’s submission, review, and approval processes and requirements.
