Specifications include, but are not limited to: Install underground fiber optic capable of providing uninterrupted service in any weather condition and increased speed. The primary installation and costs will be to build a 1.89 mile path along Paul Reed Smith Parkway (formerly Skipjack Parkway) and Log Canoe Circle. The newly installed fiber optic lines will pass by all other sites along the pathway so fiber service can be provided to any/all sites along the path. The project should consist of a combination of GPON and dark fiber. The industrial park sites will be served by connecting the newly built fiber to existing infrastructure that should be a 24x7, conditioned, and secured shelter with backup power. The selected provider will offer a solution that will allow customers to use them as their provider but will also provide flexibility to connect them to a location that allows interconnects with any service provider of their choice. Funding will not cover any new GPON network equipment, customer premise equipment or drop fiber; only the passive optical components such as feeder and distribution fiber, conduit, vaults, pedestals, cabinets, splitters, and taps relied on to extend existing fiber infrastructure along the public right of way and within close enough range of the customers so that we can perform standard installs. The selected provider will utilize a fully passive, state of the art optical fiber technology that does not rely on any active power in the field. The proposed project will be constructed underground, with the selected providers’ choice of in-house crews as well and/or private contractor crews. Subcontractor crews may be used for trenching and boring conduit, setting of vaults, and fiber markers for main feeder fiber.
