The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) is issuing this solicitation for the purposes of maintaining and repairing various types of Bus Shelters, throughout the Baltimore metropolitan area and surrounding counties as described below: • Aluminum and/or Steel frame shelters that include three (3) side enclosures with a roof. The enclosure is made up of plexiglass panels. • Barrel roof type shelters made up of steel frame and ¼” safety glass for the roof and walls. These types are mostly three sided. • Some shelters have a seating bench located inside the shelter. These Bus Shelters are along the bus routes at high passenger volume transit stops for the passengers to stand and/or sit in while waiting for the bus and to keep all passengers safe from inclement weather during their wait. These Bus Shelters need to be maintained on a regular basis for the following reasons: • MTA is obligated to provide a safe and clean area for its passengers to gather while waiting for the transit service. • The shelters are outdoors and subject to the elements of the public, weather, vandalism, and on occasion, they are hit and damaged by moving vehicles.
