Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1. Washington County Highway Department requires a vendor to supply and deliver bulk road salt as needed to various locations within Washington County, Maryland for snow and ice control. Washington County, Maryland requires approximately Twenty Thousand (20,000) tons of salt annually and will place orders as needed. Washington County Government will be obligated to purchase all of its normal requirements for the duration of the contract from the successful contractor and the successful contractor will be obligated to supply the quantities required by the County at the price bid for the duration of the contract from the successful contractor and the successful contractor will be obligated to supply the quantities required by the County at the price bid for the duration of the contract. Should the successful contractor will be unable to supply the quantities required within the time required, the county will reserve the right to secure such quantities from another vendor with no financial obligation due to the successful contractor. 2. Bulk Road Salt (Sodium Chloride) shall meet all the requirements of ASTM D632 (Latest Revision), Type 1, Grade 1. The Sodium Chloride (Solar or Rock Salt) shall contain a minimum of twenty (20) parts per million of Sodium Ferro Cyanide uniformly mixed with the salt to prevent caking. The moisture content of Rock Salt or Solar Salt shall not exceed three percent (3%) by weight. Bulk Road Salt will be free flowing and in usable condition upon arrival at the designated delivery locations. 3. All bulk Road Salt shall be uniformly treated with anti-caking coumpound. 4. All bulk Road Salt shall be protected in transit by waterproof covering. 5. All bulk Road Salt shall be free flowing and in usable condition upon arrival at its destination.
