a. Crossmatch Pick-Up/Blood Delivery: These services and supplies are routinely required by the Kidney Dialysis Unit of the Center and occasionally required for inpatients at the Center. The Contractor is solely responsible for providing all services and supplies associated with blood transfusions, including the crossmatch tests, the units of blood, and transportation necessary for pick-up and delivery. The Center’s Kidney Dialysis Unit will administer the units of blood for the Kidney Dialysis patients. b. Every effort will be made by Center personnel to schedule transfusions so that the required tests and blood units needed can be accomplished and delivered within routine transportation schedules. However, except as set forth in subparagraph (c) herein, in cases of emergency and STAT orders the Contractor must provide complete turnaround (from notification of pick-up to delivery of blood) within two (2) hours. c. Unexpected antibodies occurring in crossmatch results may require the turnaround time to exceed the two-hour requirement. In such instances, it is the Contractor’s responsibility to immediately notify the Center so that pending treatment plans can be altered according to anticipated blood availability...
