The Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife require 2 new trap nets in the Downeast Region to aid in the non-lethal sampling of cold-water native fish. Trap nets are essential tools biologists in the region during the fall spawning periods and spring movements. Trap nets can be used in various water body types and allow for biologists to sample biological data from various fish species. These new nets will give biologists more resources to monitor critically important sport fish populations in the region.
