Scope of Services: The City needs construction type Laborers for duties such as general earthwork construction and road paving laboring (working on road projects including paving), general maintenance activities related to Public works operations, to include picking up rubbish and loading it into a rubbish truck as part of the City’s daily rubbish collection program, grounds maintenance, labor duties associated with winter operations and general commercial type garage operations and/or working at the City’s landfill and recycling facility doing labor duties such as manual litter pick-up, working on annual cleaning and maintenance tasks related to landfill systems, mowing and brush cutting and helping in the recycling area as needed. Work zone training and flagger training is desired but not required for laborers. Mechanics will work in the fleet services shop up to their ability on both light and heavy duty vehicles and equipment. Work involves basic mechanical repairs and maintenance. Work is performed under the direction of the Fleet Service Manager and is reviewed for efficiency and quality of work. Mechanics are encouraged to bring in their own mechanical tools if available to do so, otherwise tools will be provided. Flaggers must be trained and DOT-certified prior to starting work. Flaggers will be directing traffic for general roadwork construction/maintenance and other related projects. They are expected to come with safety personal protection equipment, radios, and stop/slow paddles. The City will provide all the street “flagger ahead” related signs, and provide supervision of the crew.
