The Department of Corrections/ Juvenile Justice Advisory Group is seeking applications from community-based organizations to identify and fill gaps in their local community’s continuum of care for youth who have been system-involved or are at risk of becoming system-involved, as defined in this Request for Applications (RFA) document. This document provides instructions for submitting applications, the procedure and criteria by which the awarded Applicant(s) will be selected, and the contractual terms which will govern the relationship between the State of Maine (State) and the awarded Applicant(s). The funds for this grant opportunity come from the Federal Title II Funds out of awards made by the Office of Juvenile Justice & Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) to the State of Maine for being in compliance with the Juvenile Justice & Delinquency Prevention Act 1974, Reauthorized 2018, (JJDPA) https://ojjdp.ojp.gov/about/legislation . This grant opportunity is to help community’s improve outcomes for youth and their families by investing targeted resources in prevention and intervention strategies and programming across a continuum of care in communities with demonstrated need. Specifically, the grant seeks to help local communities work in collaboration to address gaps in the continuum of care for youth who have been system-involved or are at risk of becoming system-involved. The intended outcome(s) for this grant opportunity is to identify needs in the local community, identify gaps in the community’s continuum of care, and initiate prevention and interventions that support youth and their families, allow youth and their families to remain in communities while receiving services and that result in deeper feelings of connectedness by the youth and their families.
