Specifications include, but are not limited to: When there is an Accumulation of Two Inches or More of Precipitation, the Contractor agrees to Clear and Sand designated areas without interruption and with reasonable diligence, and/or the Program Administrator) of the Facility will notify the Contractor when the precipitation is two inches or more. The parking lot will be reasonably cleared no later than 6:00 am. The contractor may have to return the plow and sand depending on the severity and duration of the storm. Priority of areas needing to be cleared shall be as follows: Main Entrance/Parking Area (57,350 sq.ft.) (See facility drawing, Snow Removal Plan). In sanding the main entrance and parking area the contractor will use a sand/salt mixture. If any extra sanding is needed, the facility Program Administrator will notify the DFE Director of Building Controls, Ken Merrifield, for approval and call the contractor when approved. The employees of the facility are responsible for the shoveling and sanding of all entrances to the facility- Not the contractor. All gates to compounds will remain free from snow build-up to allow ease of access. Gated Compound shall be on a Will Call Basis (The program Administrator of the facility will notify the contractor), based on a 4" accumulation (30,890sq.ft.). Any precipitation at this facility that needs to be removed will be hauled to a snow dump area meeting the requirements of Maine Department of Environmental Protection rules for Snow Dumps, Chapter 573, 06-096CMR after normal work hours of operation (7:00 am to 4:30 pm). http://www.maine.gov/dep/water/wd/snow discharge/index.html Treatment of roadways and parking areas will be done at the time of plowing, as needed. The Contractor will use a sand salt mixture that meets Maine Department of Transportation’s specs. https://www.maine.gov/mdot/contractors/publications/standardspec/ Any snow/ice built-up next to the facility windows, entrance doors, or overhead doors WILL NOT be done until the Program Administrator of the Facility notifies DVEM Equipment Requirement: The contractor will supply enough equipment to adequately complete the snow removal and sanding in a timely matter. The contractor agrees to contact the Facility Program Administrator if the entire property cannot be completed within (6) hours after completion of the precipitation event. The Contractor must not put snow into any area designated to environmental practices or policies. The Contractor agrees to remove snow piles as needed to keep the normal facility operations.
