The scope of work consists of a single project in two locations at the Lt. Gordon Manuel Wildlife Management Area. These locations include: (A) roadside mulching of brush and small trees along a stretch of road (referred to as Crossover Road) connecting from the Horseback Road to the Townline Road, as well as southeast to a bridge crossing the South Branch Meduxnekeag River in Hodgdon; and (B) roadside mulching of brush and small trees along the Townline Road and Foss Brook Road in Linneus. All mulching areas and associated meeting location can be found in Appendix E (2025 Roadside Mulching Map) A. Roadside Mulching in Hodgdon This work consists of 17,360 linear feet of roadside mulching of small trees and woody vegetation, averaging 14 feet from both sides of the edge of the travel surface of the road. There is an additional 170 linear feet where mulching will occur on only one side of the road. The total area is equivalent to 11.2 acres. Woody vegetation and tree limbs have grown in from the edges prohibiting trucking and proper road management activities. Please refer to Appendix E for aerial map and location. All stems must be severed 6” to 12” above the ground and mulched in place. Occasional rocks and boulders will prevent mulching to 6”. B. Roadside Mulching in Linneus This work consists of 9,460 linear feet of roadside mulching of small trees and woody vegetation, averaging 15 feet from both sides of the edge of the travel surface of the road. The total area is equivalent to 6.5 acres. Woody vegetation and tree limbs have grown in from the edges prohibiting trucking and proper road management activities.
