Specifications include, but are not limited to: Stonecoast MFA residency requirements include: 1. Lodging for anywhere between 60 and 75 participants 2. 10 to 12 smaller break out/classroom spaces each with capacity for 7 to 10 participants (Note: guest rooms may be used as classrooms) 3. 1 large ball room/meeting/dance floor space with capacity to host the entire community of participants, guests, and public (60-95) for nightly readings and special events. Participant lodging and classroom/meeting space should be in close proximity to one another, ideally within a short walking distance. ADA compliant handicap accessibility would be a requirement. The availability of A/V presentation technology in each medium sized, as well as the one larger, meeting room is desirable. In addition to the space/room requirements for the program’s workshops, seminars, presentations, and meetings, MFA program participants will need to be provided with 8 days of coffee/tea service each morning, lunch service each day, and up to 5 or 6 special catered events. The provision of breakfast and dinner services as an option for some participants, especially those being provided with lodging, would be desirable. The preference is to have a selection of restaurants within easy walking distance (i.e., ½ mile or less). Participants will arrive from various locations around the country and overseas. Proximity to the Portland Jetport (maximum of 1 hour via ground transportation or ~60 miles from PWM) will be crucial for providing access to the residency location via ground transportation. For those participants arriving by car, access to free parking is strongly preferred.
