Specifications include, but are not limited to: Mechanical Repair #1 – Pivot Bearing (Quantity: 1*) o Description of Work: a. Conform to Section 820. The Project Engineer or a designated representative shall be present for this repair. Contractor shall coordinate the scheduling of this repair with the Project Engineer. b. The pivot bearing is a spherical roller thrust bearing (SKF 29380). A qualified bearing representative shall coordinate and oversee this repair. Contractor shall submit the bearing representative’s qualifications for acceptance. Contractor shall provide all equipment (tub, solvent, rags, etc.) and labor to clean bearing as per the bearing representative’s directions. c. This repair must be performed in the “closed to marine traffic” position. d. Jack the movable span to gain access to the pivot bearing e. Remove the middle jacket f. Clean and inspect the roller bearing g. If the roller bearing is in good condition, re-lubricate in accordance with the bearing manufacturer’s recommendations and reinstall h. If the roller bearing has damage, re-lubricate in accordance with the bearing manufacturer’s recommendations and reinstall. Bearing representative shall submit a report to the Project Engineer and the Bridge Engineer with the following information: 1) Describe the damage to the bearing. 2) Provide estimate of the remaining life. 3) Determine cost and availability of replacement bearing o Pay Item: 821-01-01400 – Swing Span Bridge Mechanical System (Pivot Bearing Repair), per Lump Sum Mechanical Repair #2 – Span Drive Hydraulic Power Unit (Quantity: 1*) o Description of Work: a. Refurbish the span drive hydraulic pump b. Drain and clean the hydraulic reservoir c. Replace all filters and strainers d. Provide new synthetic hydraulic fluid. Type, viscosity, and temperature rating shall be as recommended by the pump manufacturer based on the installation and the application. e. Add hydraulic fluid to reservoir and flush hydraulic system (including piping and cylinders) in accordance with Section 821.07.30 of the LSSRB f. Set-up, break-in, and test hydraulic system in accordance with Section 821.07.31 of the LSSRB. Contractor shall devise testing methodologies to demonstrate relief valve settings, creep speed flow, and full flow.
