Specifications include, but are not limited to: MECHANICAL REPAIR #1 – SPAN DRIVE SYSTEM 1. Description of Work: a. Clean all submerged steel associated with the span drive system. b. Replace or refurbish the span drive winch in kind. 1) If replacing the winch, and if the exact winch is no longer available, a winch with similar geometry, features, function, quality, and performance may be submitted for review/acceptance. Contractor shall be responsible for any modifications required to mount the new winch. 2) If refurbishing the winch, refurbishment shall be performed by a shop experienced and qualified to perform the work. Contractor shall submit the shop’s qualifications for approval. Shop shall certify and warranty all components for one year after the Department accepts the project. As a minimum, refurbishment shall include the following: a) Disassemble, clean, and inspect all parts. b) Paint frame/housing with the mechanical paint system or other approved epoxy paint system for severe duty applications. c) Replace seals, replace roller bearings, inspect/certify gears and shafts, adjust/verify gear contact and shaft alignment, rebuild clutch, replace brake shoes/pads, lubricate, and test. d) Electric motor to be refurbished in Electrical Repair #5.
