St. John the Baptist Parish proposes to receive bids on stainless-steel sampling stations for this project. The sampling stations are intended for installation on existing pressurized potable-water lines and shall allow for collection of representative distribution-system water samples without service interruption. Each station shall include a stainless-steel waterway, 3/8” unthreaded sample nozzle, and ¾” FIP inlet connection, fully serviceable from above ground. The enclosure shall be lockable, powder-coated cast-aluminum housing with the St. John the Baptist Parish logo on a 3’ pedestal designed for use in any climate. Stations shall withstand working pressures up to 220 psi. The bid covers materials and delivery only; no installation labor is included. II. MATERIALS AND CONSTRUCTION A. Waterway All wetted parts shall be manufactured from Type 303, 316, or 18-8 stainless steel with Buna-N rubber seals. Components shall be corrosion-resistant and suitable for continuous contact with potable water. B. Sample Nozzle and Petcock Each station shall include a 3/8” unthreaded sample nozzle (blow off and sampling bibb) and a stainless-steel petcock valve located on an independent evacuation line. The evacuation valve shall permit removal of residual water by pump or compressed air to prevent freezing. C. Enclosure The outer housing shall be cast aluminum (AL 319) and lockable with hinged front and rear access panels on a 3’ pedestal. The enclosure shall accommodate a 3’ buried depth. When open, the station shall require no key for operation. D. Evacuation System A 1/8” evacuation tube shall extend from the internal valve body to the petcock outlet. When opened, the system shall allow full drainage of the waterway through a positive shutoff secondary valve.
