Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1.0 MAINTENANCE OF TRAFFIC: 1.0.1 During the periods when roadway closures are specified the contractor shall provide for and maintain the local traffic. 2.0 LOCAL CLOSURE AND WORK HOUR RESTRICTIONS SHALL BE AS FOLLOWS: 2.1 Sweeping operations will only be allowed from 8:00 P.M. to 6:00 A.M., seven days a week, unless otherwise directed by the Superintendent or representative of Streets & Drainage. 2.2 No work shall be allowed, all streets open and all charges shall stop during New Year’s, Mardi Gras, Easter, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday periods. No work shall be allowed, all streets open and all charges shall stop in preparation for or during hurricane contra flow operations. 3.0 PUBLIC CONVENIENCE AND SAFETY: 3.1 Police Officers are required to assist in controlling traffic in particular work zones. The number of officers needed and the tasks they will perform and their location within the work zone will vary. To be eligible to assist in controlling traffic, a police officer must complete the DOTD class Work Zone Traffic Control for Law Enforcement Personnel. The class shall be taken at least every four years.
