Specifications include, but are not limited to: The University of Kentucky Recycling Program is seeking to secure the services of an experienced contractor capable of conducting a municipal solid waste (MSW) assessment and prepare a composition and characterization report. The objectives of this study are to: 1. Gather waste composition data using methodology that is statistically representative of the University of Kentucky landfill waste stream. 2. Develop a University wide landfill waste characterization and quantification by weight for each measured material type of MSW. 3. Determine variability and differentiate waste composition from the aggregate MSW and from different sectors: residential buildings (dorms), dining facilities, hospitals and general campus buildings. 4. Determine the types and quantities of potentially recoverable recyclables and compostable material found in the disposed MSW stream. 5. The sort event should be scheduled while students are on campus.
