Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Cabinet for Health and Family Services (CHFS), Department for Public Health (DPH) is requesting to issue and award a Request for Proposal (RFP) for The Kentucky Immunization Program for an Immunization Information System (IIS). IIS are confidential, population-based, computerized databases that record all immunizations administered by participating providers to persons residing within a given geopolitical area across the lifespan. IIS also support all immunization program functions. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) sets functional requirement standards of an IIS that must be met. The CDC also requires CDSi Logic Specification and Supporting Data to be built into IIS for proper vaccine forecasting. Kentucky's current IIS contains immunizations from over 1,600 Points of Care that are live in the production environment; this number continues to increase. These immunization records are compliant with HL7 version 2.5.1. Onboarding to the IIS is through the Kentucky Health Information Exchange. There are approximately 600 provider sites that use the IIS for vaccine inventory and ordering.
