If proposed engine is to be electronically controlled, bidder is to furnish with bid the type of control(s) proposed. Provisions shall be made that total engine shutdown is NOT a part of control system. Manufacturer shall provide a visual and audible warning system in place of total engine shutdown. Warning system shall be installed, clearly visible; in driving compartment on dash panel. A dedicated battery system for engine electronic control shall be provided. A fast-idle switch shall be provided, which will increase engine speed to 1000 RPM. The bidder shall furnish a written statement, guaranteeing that the engine they propose to furnish will meet all requirements and is adequate with a reasonable amount of reserve power for the type apparatus it is to be installed in, taking into consideration the gross vehicular weight and performances of tests as set forth in these specifications. Engine shall be equipped with an engine retarder, “JAKE BRAKE” compatible with engine design. Control for retarder shall be in cab, convenient to driver. Retarding device shall be type and design to be able to be disconnected in the event of inclement weather conditions. No special modifications above standard engine design. Maximum available warranty shall be supplied. Bidder shall clearly state warranty to be supplied with engine.
