Specifications include, but are not limited to: The scope of this project includes the construction of a new Middle School with a separate Spots Pavilion Facilities building: New Middle School: 108,559 gsf Maintenance Building: 900 gsf The buildings will be constructed using: a) Load bearing reinforced concrete masonry units (CMU) b) Continuous strip footing foundations with integrated and isolated spread footings c) Slabs on grade with 1 ½” topping d) Precast concrete hollow-core planks with 4” concrete topping e) Slab on composite metal decking – mechanical platform f) Various structural steel frames and lintels g) Pre-engineered light gage metal truss roof system with 1 ½” metal decking h) Pre-engineered wood truss roof system with wood sheathing (Maintenance Building only). 1. Concrete Inspection & Testing a. In accordance with 2012 IBC/2013 KBC Section 1704.4 and the Statement of Special Inspections in the design documents including: i. Verify use of required design mix ii.Placement of reinforcing steel iii. Placement of cast-in-place bolts or other embedded anchors prior to and during concrete placement iv. Sampling fresh concrete and performing slump, air content and fresh concrete temperature at the time of making specimens for strength test v.Review placement techniques vi. Verification of concrete curing temperature b. Testing services per project specifications. 2. Masonry Inspection and Testing a. In accordance with 2012 IBC/2013 KBC Section 1704.5 and the Statement of Special Inspections in the design documents including: i. Verification of site-prepared mortar, construction of mortar joints and locations of reinforcement and connectors ii.Verification of size and location of structural elements, type, size and locations of anchors including details of anchorage of masonry to structural members, frames of other construction iii. Verification of specified size, grade and type of reinforcement iv. Verify protection of masonry during cold or hot weather v.Verify prior to grouting to ensure grout space is clean vi. Verify grout mix vii. Verify that grout placement is in accordance with code and the design documents viii. Prepare grout and mortar specimens for testing b. Testing services per project specifications. 3. Steel Inspection and Testing a. In accordance with AISC 360-10 and the Statement of Special Inspections in the design documents including: i. Verification per Table N5.4-1 prior to welding ii.Verification per Table N5.4-2 during welding iii. Verification per Table N5.4-3 after welding iv. Verification per Table N5.6-1 prior to bolting v.Verification per Table N5.6-2 during bolting vi. Verification per Table N5.6-3 after bolting b. Testing services per project specifications.
