Specifications include, but are not limited to: A total of approximately 3.0 acres of disturbance upon two sites, and consists of the abatement of the hazard posed to the public by seven remnant mine openings and one mine-associated rock overhang located in immediate proximity to four homes, the regrading of a landslide and the collection and control of underground mine drainage through the installation of subdrains and various other drainage control structures. Chris and Larry Hatton Site: Work at this site involves the closure of at least two underground mine openings, the removal of a hazardous rock overhang, the installation of up to 45 linear feet of subdrain along a coal outcrop, the removal of a pool containing mine drainage, and improvement of the flow-path currently taken by the drainage by means of culverts, a section of Excavated Rock Ditch, and other miscellaneous drainage improvements. A third underground mine opening may be encountered during treatment, release, and backfilling of the existing mine drainage pool. If so, it will also be closed by means of a Standard NonWildlife Accessible Closure. The AML Standard Residential Seed Mix will be used at this site.
