Activities included in the Medical Advisor's Duties and Responsibilities: Activity 1: Ongoing edit of existing state EMS protocols -Review and edit medical treatment content at least every two years -Review and edit administrative content -Add administrative content regarding applicability of state protocols during aid within Kentucky, but outside of normal operation area - Review submitted protocols within thirty (30) days of receipt at KBEMS -Obtain any necessary approvals from KBEMS and/or committees; Activity 2: Process Revision - revise EMS protocol review process -Revise and streamline the process by which medical treatment protocols are reviewed by the Kentucky EMS medical advisor -Areas to be addressed include, but are not limited to: -Logging of all activities and movements of protocols -Obtain approval of process revisions by Executive Director of KBEMS; Activity 3: Identify areas of regulations requiring specific medical expertise and aid KBEMS and Board staff in medical aspects of regulatory revision.
