The purpose of this project is to modernize one (1) in-ground hydraulic passenger elevator at the Keen Johnson Building. The upgrade will ensure the elevator meets all Kentucky Building Code (KBC) and ASME A17.1- 2010 elevator requirements. The work involves installing new equipment, as specified, reusing and modifying existing components as feasible. The following is included in the scope of work: - All required material and equipment. - Demolition of existing systems as necessary. - Labor for mobilization, demolition, installation and modifications. - Applicable permits, inspections as required by the State of Kentucky Department of Housing, Building, and Construction Elevator Inspection. - A 12-month warranty on all installed equipment and components. The following tasks required by code will be provided by others and included in the price: 1. Electrical, fire alarm, and sprinkler upgrades or changes. 2. HVAC, sump pump installation and cover. 3. Providing necessary construction to satisfy separation, fire rating, maintenance clearance, and access requirements for the existing machine room. 4. Removal and replacement of existing flooring and installation of new flooring as selected by the University. 5. Any additional requirements as determined by the elevator inspector or local authorities. a. Provide and Install the following New Elevator Cab Interiors: 1. Cab Wall Panels: Kingswood Walnut wall panels, black inlay in margins, and walls of the cab shell. 2. Cab Wall Handrails : #4 Brushed Stainless Steel Handrails 3. Entrance Opening Doors: 14 Gauge #4 Brushed Stainless Steel 4. Island Down Light Ceiling, Six (6) #4 Brushed Stainless Steel Panels, Solo Beam LED per panel. 5. Center Parting Car Doors: #4 Brushed Stainless Steel 6. Car Door Sill: Extruded Aluminum 7. Flooring: Mohawk Group Large and Local Wood C0128 LVT Woody 978. b. Car and Hall Fixtures 1. Car Operating Panel: 11 gauge, #4 brushed - Innovation PB-23 bruiser, vandal resistant, metal pushbuttons w/ jewel, PB-1 key switches, digital position indicator, and locked fire service cabinet. Features: key switches for fire service, stop, independent service, fan, & lights. LED emergency light. Fire Hat Indicator. ANSI Phase II Fire Service Instructions, Car Number, Capacity, Company Name, and “When Flashing Help is on the Way” jewel to accompany the K-Tech emergency phone. Provide and install new wiring for car operating panel connection. 2. Elevator Annunciator: Coordinate activation with EKU IT department. 3. Car Directional Lantern & Discrete Chime. 4. Hall Stations: PH Series surface mounted, Fire Service Key Switch, Communication Failure jewel at 1st floor landing, Fire Emergency Pictograph, and Phase 1 Fire Service Instructions. c. Controller System Replacement 1. Replace existing Murphy controller with new hydraulic controller. 2. Install new positioning systems. 3. Provide new car-top boxes, serial link communications, electric starter, and complete rewiring throughout the elevator system hoist way and car. d. Battery Lowering 1. Cars shall be equipped with battery lowering. e. Pump Unit Replacement with Battery Lowering 1. Install submersible pump units, including tanks, valves, motors, mufflers, and pumps. 2. Supply AW32 hydraulic oil in accordance with manufacturer recommendations to ensure proper operation. Bio-oil will not be accepted or approved. f. Car Operating Panels 1. Install stainless-steel car operating panels. 2. Emergency Lighting. 3. Digital Position Indicators. 4. Hands-Free Phone Communication System. Coordinate activation of phone with EKU IT. g. Hall Door Panels 1. New brushed stainless-steel hall door panels at each landing. h. Hall Door Equipment 1. Replace hall door equipment, including, pickup rollers, closers, interlocks, hangers. i. Car Door System 1. Install new car door operators, tracks, clutches, linkages, electronic edges, and gate switches. j. Cab Interior Enhancements 1. Provide new cab interior overlays inside each elevator, including 2. Standard laminate selections. 3. Brushed stainless-steel handrails. 4. Aluma-steel downlight ceiling with six (6) round LED lights. 5. Brushed stainless-steel car door panels, front return, strike, and transom cladding. k. Reuse of Existing Equipment 1. Existing equipment that is compatible with the new installations will be reused and modified as needed to integrate with the new systems.
