Specifications include, but are not limited to: To address this concern, 150 L.F. of 12’ high gabion retaining wall will be constructed behind the Thacker residence and the abandoned house to the west. The subdrain pipe behind the wall will extend out to the side of the road to allow for drainage of water away from the wall. The slope behind the wall will be graded and backfilled to a 1.5-to-1 slope. There is some concern that the gradework and backfill for the gabion wall may cause instability for one of the structures on the bench above and behind the houses, so two rows of steel piles using rail steel will be placed in front of the structure to hold the surrounding soil in place and prevent failure of that upper portion of the slope. The steel will be placed on 4’ centers and in two rows as shown in the plans. A potential tree removal area encompassing approximately 0.33 acres is marked on the plans behind the houses. The project area encompasses approximately 1.1 acres around the house and is also marked on the plans.
