Project Description This project includes the removal of eight (8) hydrants and replacement with AVK Traffic Models. Additionally, included is one (1) new installation of a Mueller hydrant. All hydrants are supplied by City. All hydrant location addresses are noted with this document. The awarded contractor will be responsible for coordinating all work with the City of Franklin Water Department. The Water Department will supply all materials needed for the project. The awarded contractor will be responsible for picking up materials (including stone. bag mix concrete, seed & straw, etc.) available at the Public Works/Utilities Barn located at 706 Claire Ave in Franklin, KY. Prospective contractor proposals will be for labor and equipment only unless noted in the Quantity Bid Sheet. Hydrant Removal and Replacement Process 1. Excavate to verify for provided restraint between the main line Tee and existing hydrant Gate Valve (all fire hydrant locations will have operative gate valves in place). 2. For locations without restraint, install combined ROMAC ROMAGRIP and 470 Restrainer with two (2) 3%" all thread stainless steel rods. 3. Remove the existing hydrant and hydrant piping to the Gate Valve. 4. Install the new hydrant with an MJ 6" x 18" solid swivel connector. Contractor to adjust as needed for 4 ½" nozzle to be facing the street. Add a 4"x 8" x 16" solid concrete block below the hydrant shoe for stability. 5. Install the hydrant concrete kicker (protect the hydrant with a double layer of 6 mil polyethylene barrier). 6. Replace soil, grade and add contractor's mix seed and 15-15-15 fertilizer with straw mulch. New Hydrant Installation Process 1. Excavate for tapping sleeve and valve. 2. Install tapping sleeve and valve. 3. Install PVC line to hydrant (install Romac Grip Ring at the gate valve). 4. Install the new hydrant( utilize Romac Grip Rings at the hydrant). Add a 4" x 8" x 16" solid concrete block below the hydrant shoe for stability. 5. Install the hydrant concrete kicker (protect the hydrant with a double layer of 6 mil polyethylene barrier). 6. Replace soil, grade and add contractor's mix seed and 15-15-15 fertilizer with straw mulch.
