The greenhouse will be in the High Tunnels area on the KSU South Campus in Frankfort, Kentucky. The site is currently occupied by four existing greenhouses. The two northern greenhouses on site will be demolished to make room for the new, two-bay greenhouse included in this project scope. The site conditions include gently sloping terrain with proper drainage. Site grading and site preparation will be required to ensure effective water management and erosion control. The greenhouse will be a two-bay, pre-engineered structure measuring 60 feet wide by 96 feet long, with twinwall polycarbonate covering. The bays will be separated by a full-height center wall tight to roof and foundation to allow for greater environmental and pest control between greenhouse functions. The sides will be 10 feet high, and the roof pitch will be 2/12. Total greenhouse height is 15 feet. Structural integrity is ensured by heavyduty, triple-galvanized steel columns including a base plate anchoring system secured with concrete anchors. The greenhouse building and systems must be designed to endure a wet, corrosive greenhouse environment. Separation between the bays with a full-height, center wall will allow for greater environmental and pest control between greenhouse functions.
