Specifications include, but are not limited to: purchase salt for the brine tank at the Glacier Run exhibit to make saltwater for the Marine Mammal pools in this exhibit at the Louisville Zoo. The salt will need to be equal to or better than 'Bulk White Crystal Coarse Southern Rock Salt' (98.6% purity) with NO ADDITIVES- PURE SALT. The salt will need to be delivered by a tanker truck with a pneumatic delivery system. The Louisville Zoo will typically purchase 25-ton quantities (average tanker truck load) approximately every six (6) weeks. This amount may vary due to saltwater loss and usage. The ability to make deliveries on a timely basis will be a consideration in this bid award. The brine storage tank at the Glacier Run exhibit has a 40-ton capacity and is set up for pneumatic delivery. Tanker trucks can drive right up to the storage tank, but the delivery truck should still carry a couple sections of transfer hoses for flexibility in delivery. Pricing will be requested on a 'per ton' delivered basis.
