Specifications include, but are not limited to: The proposed project includes approximately 1.5 acres of disturbance, and consists of the abatement of a hazard posed to the public by a remnant mine opening located in close proximity to a public highway and several area homes, and the collection and partial abatement of acidic underground mine drainage that is flowing from the portal and other nearby non-point sources along the outcrop of the mined coal seam. This project consists of a single site, and includes the closure of one abandoned mine entry, and the installation of drainage controls designed to contain the previously uncontrolled underground mine drainage and abate at least a portion of the Acid Mine Drainage conditions originating from this site. Reclamation efforts at this location will include the closure of a single abandoned mine entry by means of a standard wildlife-accessible closure, the installation of approximately 240 linear feet of Combination Rock Ditch-Drain that has been modified in order to prevent clogging by the metal oxide precipitates from the AMD solution flowing from the underground mine workings. The collected mine drainage will be directed, by means of Class III Ditch, into the existing hollow drain. Up to 400 linear feet of the hollow-drain will be converted to Class III ditch in order to add alkalinity to the drainage collected at this site. The Standard AML Seed Mix for Acidic Conditions will be utilized at this site.
