The Commonwealth of Kentucky, Finance & Administration Cabinet, Division of Engineering & Contract Administration (DECA) is seeking professional design services for the Kentucky Department of Parks (Parks) to provide a new conference center at John James Audobon State Park. Parks, in partnership with Henderson City and County governments, look to construct a multi-function conference center to be located lakeside at Audubon State Park in Henderson KY. The purpose of this facility is to provide large convention, conference, and event space to the Henderson area. This building should be a modern reflection of the classic CCC era architecture that exists at the park. The exterior envelope should be brick or field stone masonry, roof should be sloped with metal, slate, or heavy dimensional shingle. Exterior walks and terraces shall be concrete with decorative elements and details in keeping with the CCC aesthetic. Main entry into the facility should address the parking lot. Existing parking facilities may require enlargement. The interior should have a contemporary lodge design with durable finishes. Entry lobby should be inviting with high ceilings and abundant natural light. Men and Women’s restrooms should be conveniently located off the entry. Large convention space to accommodate 400 persons seated at tables and chairs, space should also include movable partition to subdivide space for two smaller groups. Facility should also include some smaller group spaces, conference breakout rooms, bridal lounge, catering kitchen, staff areas, table and chair storage. Facility will be constructed lakeside so some outdoor areas overlooking lake would be appropriate as well as potential outdoor event space with convenient access to interior amenities. The Commonwealth reserves the option to increase the scope of services under this RFP if needed and as funding allows.
