Eastern Kentucky University is a regional, coeducational, public institution of higher education offering general and liberal arts programs, pre-professional and professional training in education and various other fields at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Located in Richmond, Madison County, Kentucky, Eastern has a distinguished record of more than a century of educational service to the Commonwealth. This project, authorized in the 2012-2014 Budget of the Commonwealth, will add approximately 10,000 square feet to the Ashland Building. The Ashland Building is approximately 80 ft x 113 ft and currently houses the Bogard Fire Protection Laboratory (25 sprinkler risers and control valves), the fire extinguisher and pump laboratory, a high bay area for a fire engine, three offices, and one classroom. The Ashland Building was constructed in the mid-1990s and has served the department and program very well. The building is being utilized to facilitate learning for the fire and safety students. No additional specifications were given.
