Specifications include, but are not limited to: 6. Site Inspection: The Contractor should inspect the project site in the field prior to preparing their bid. Contractor is responsible to verify pipe diameters, pipe lengths and pipe depths prior to ordering materials. The City of Wichita will not be responsible for unusable material ordered by the Contractor. Pipe installation will be paid as bid and there will be no additional costs paid for variances to pipe size, length or depth. 7. Flow of Sewage: The Contractor shall be responsible for maintaining continuous flow of sewage through the construction site at all times. The Contractor’s proposed method for maintaining sewage flow shall be approved by the Engineer. Cost of maintaining flow of sewage through construction will not be paid for directly and this cost shall be considered subsidiary to the project. 8. Sewer Service Interruption: No building is to be without sewer service for more than 24 hours, and coordination of the same with the property owner is the contractor’s responsibility. 9. Damage to Existing Structures: If damaged during construction, existing manholes, sewer lines and other appurtenances to remain in service shall be repaired to original condition without additional. 10. Replace Manhole Frame & Cover: This bid item will also include any other work necessary to the cone or stack to bring the top portion of the manhole in compliance with the Standard Specifications. 11. Building Service Lines: Building sewer service lines shall be Sch. 40 PVC pipe. Connections to existing building service lines shall follow the Special Provisions PART 800, Item 18, for Sanitary Sewer Couplings. Only active service lines which connect buildings to the sewer system are to be reconnected to the new sewer line. Building service lines and\or connections which have been abandoned are not to be reconnected to the new sewer line. It will be the sole responsibility of the Contractor to ascertain which building service lines and\or connections are active and which services and\or connections have been abandonedAny service line not in a condition which would permit reconnection, shall be replaced as much as necessary, up to the easement boundary, at no additional cost to the project. If the building service line has failed beyond the easement, the Contractor shall notify the project inspector or the home owner of the existing problem. 12. Sanitary Sewer Service Saddles: Sewer saddles shall be installed using epoxy and will be banded to the main. Saddles must be PVC saddle tees and have a flange at least one inch wide on each side of the connection. This saddle will be used with either a PVC or clay sewer main. The saddle must be set with epoxy and each flange must be secured with a stainless steel band. The screws must be epoxy coated. Predco epoxy kit part numbers 4E and 6E are approved. Solvent-weld cement will not be approved for attaching saddles to mains.
