Specifications include, but are not limited to: Task 1: Sidewalk Current Conditions Assessment: Wichita Transit has GIS information on missing sidewalks within ¼ of a mile of a bus route that will be provided to consultant. Areas missing sidewalks will need to be assessed to see if conditions would allow the installation of sidewalks. Sidewalks that are in place within ¼ of a mile of a bus route should be assessed for ADA standards and condition. Task 2: Bus Stop Current Conditions Assessment: Wichita Transit has a listing of nearly 1,200 stops. Those with current benches or bus shelters have already been assessed for accessibility and would not need an assessment by the consultant. There are 936 to be reviewed for accessibility to the curb and for potential amenity installations. Task 3: Crossing Analysis: Many stops along Wichita Transit bus routes are not near a crossing. It is not expected for each stop to have a crossing, but rather, we would like the consultant to identify high priority areas for crossing. The consultant should identify what type of crossing is preferred for each priority location. Task 4: Develop Funding and Implementation Priorities: Finally, a priority listing for improvements should be provided. For sidewalks and access paths, general specifications should be made, such as: 4 feet minimum width, 4 inches thick with 8 inch thickness up against curb. Planning level cost estimates should be provided for each recommended improvement.
